It seems like lately all of my posts are about animals in need of rescue from unfortunate circumstances. Sometimes it's so disheartening that it would be easier to quit and lead a "normal" life. Then we get a breath of fresh air in the form of an update from a former adopter that replenishes our energy and reminds us why we do what we do every single day!
In 2008 we got a call from a frantic mother of a young boy that rescued a McNab puppy from the streets of our rural town. She was a skinny, scraggly pup. They lived in a trailer park and were not allowed to have pets. We took the pup that he called Rogue into our rescue. She was a pretty puppy with typical McNab traits being smart and active. Once she gained weight we had her spayed, vaccinated and microchipped she was placed for adoption. She was adopted by a couple in Oregon who were hoping to get an athletic pup that would enjoy participating in sport games for dogs. A McNab seemed like the perfect fit. They named her Scout and the rest is history. She excelled in Fly Ball and later in Barn Hunt. She loved what she got to do and was awarded many honors. Best of all, she was a perfect companion. She lived a long and happy life. We are sad to hear of her passing. But living sixteen years doing what she loved with a family that loved her was a dream come true. We are honored to have been a small part in making that happen for her. We wish all of our pets could have a story like Scouts. Our deepest condolences and gratitude to her family, Martha and Sherree for the life they gave her.
In Loving Memory
